Kirsters Baish| The Justice Department must have something serious going on if they aren’t willing to comply with congressional subpoenas.
It seems that the only way they will agree to comply is if they are threatened with serious consequences. That is exactly what has just happened. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has finally lost his patience with the Justice Department and has pushed Attorney General Jeff Sessions to comply or he will be held in contempt of Congress.
The Obama administration has been a topic of conversation for the House Intel Committee. They have been looking into the possibility of the administration along with the FBI having abused FISA to spy on the Trump campaign prior to the 2016 presidential election. You would think that Sessions would be dying to get to the bottom of this, but for some reason there have been delays for the last few months.
Nunes made an appearance on Fox News today.
“On Thursday we discovered that they are not going to comply with our subpoena,” Nunes said on “Fox and Friends Sunday,” he said adding, “the only thing left to do is we have to move quickly to hold the attorney general of the United States in contempt and that is what I will press for this week.”
Two weeks ago, Nunes sent to Sessions a classified letter, which he said was not acknowledged, and then he sent a subpoena.
Nunes explains that he is tired of hearing excuses, and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise had similar feelings on the matter.

Scalise explained, “I have deeper and deeper concerns the more I see some of this, not only the stonewalling, but what’s been in some of these memos. We’re also trying to get a lot of other information from the Department of Justice about this investigation, and everything that we uncover raises even deeper concerns about the direction.”
Fox News host Maria Bartiromo stated that the Justice Department is claiming that they have responded to these requests.
Fox News reported that Nunes labeled the FBI and the Justice Department redaction of the Russia report “excessive and sloppy.” It was said in the House Committee’s report that the FBI agents “did not detect any deception during [Michael] Flynn’s interview.”
Flynn pled guilty to one count of making “false, fictitious or fraudulent” statements to the FBI while under Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russian probe. He also served as President Trump’s national security adviser.
“This just cannot continue where we don’t get information in a timely manner. Like I said, everything we have tried to get they tried to stop us from getting,” Nunes stated.
It’s time for this information to come out and for Jeff Sessions to start complying.
